East Lancashire Learning Group Named Number One Further Education College in the Country

Number One College In The Country

East Lancashire Learning Group (ELLG) is celebrating a landmark achievement after being officially recognised as the number one further education college in the country in the latest national achievement rate tables (NARTS). The Group includes Nelson and Colne College Group, Accrington and Rossendale College, and Lancashire Adult Learning.

This outstanding result confirms ELLG as the top performing provider for both adult learners and 16 to 18 achievement, underlining the Group’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional education and life changing opportunities for learners of all ages.

The success is especially significant for Lancashire, with all three colleges rooted in the county, making this a powerful moment of regional pride and a testament to the strength, ambition and talent within communities across Lancashire.

In addition to securing the top national position for achievement, ELLG has also been ranked number one for A Level and vocational progress. This means that students are not only more likely to achieve their qualifications than at any other college in the country, but are also more likely to make more progress, exceeding their own expectations and achieving higher than expected grades, highlighting the exceptional outcomes they make during their time at the Group’s colleges.

Further reinforcing its national reputation for excellence, ELLG remains the only college group in the country to have achieved Ofsted Outstanding status for 20 consecutive years, a remarkable and unparalleled record in further education.

Lisa O’Loughlin CBE, CEO and Principal of East Lancashire Learning Group, said:

“We are incredibly proud to be recognised as the number one further education college in the country. This achievement reflects the dedication, passion and expertise of our staff, and the ambition, resilience and success of our learners.

It is particularly special that this recognition belongs to Lancashire, to our communities, our families and our employers. This is a fantastic moment for the county, and it shows what can be achieved when we work together to create outstanding opportunities for all.”

This latest recognition cements East Lancashire Learning Group’s position as a national leader in further education, while shining a spotlight on Lancashire as a place where learners can achieve exceptional success and realise their full potential.
