Students at East Lancashire UC (ELUC) have ranked their experience among the very best in Lancashire, with the 2026 National Student Survey (NSS) placing ELUC as the county’s number one college-based higher education provider for student satisfaction.
Part of East Lancashire Learning Group, ELUC builds on the success of Nelson and Colne College and Accrington and Rossendale College by offering university-level study in a supportive college environment. Students benefit from personalised teaching, expert support and the opportunity to achieve a degree or higher-level qualification close to home.
The National Student Survey gathers feedback from final-year higher education students across the country, asking about their experience of studying, including teaching quality, academic support, learning resources and student voice.
The results show students at ELUC feel well supported throughout their studies, with particularly strong feedback for academic support, learning opportunities and learning resources.
Charlotte Scheffmann, Dean of ELUC, said:

“They tell us that students feel supported, listened to and able to achieve their goals, and that’s exactly what we’re here to provide.
“We’re incredibly proud of our students and grateful to the tutors and support teams whose commitment helps make that experience possible every day.”
At 92.2%, the college has beaten its benchmark, or expected level, set by the NSS, by 8.3%.
Across all seven areas measured by the survey, ELUC scored above expectations and the benchmark for similar providers, the only college to do so in the region.
For students considering degree-level study, the results provide reassurance that they can access high-quality teaching, support and facilities while studying locally.
