If you’re passionate about supporting children to learn, grow and thrive, our Early Years, Childcare and Education courses are the perfect place to start.
From introductory “Get Into Working in an Early Years Setting” programmes to nationally recognised NCFE CACHE qualifications, our courses provide clear, supported pathways into employment or further study. You’ll gain hands-on knowledge in areas such as caring for children, supporting teaching and learning and working in schools and colleges, all guided by expert tutors who understand the real-world demands of these roles.
Courses are offered online or in community venues across Lancashire and can even be hosted in local schools where there’s interest.
Lancashire Adult Learning offers a range of Childcare courses with entry requirements that vary depending on the level. Our introductory Level 1 courses require learners to understand basic written and verbal English (Entry Level 3 or above), take part in practical activities, and have suitable digital access if learning online.
Level 2 courses require GCSE English (Grade C/4 or equivalent) and basic digital skills for online study.
For Level 3, learners should already hold GCSE/Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths (or be willing to work towards Maths), have completed a Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification, and have experience working with children in a school or college setting.
Please note that many employers also expect GCSE English and Maths for Teaching Assistant roles.
