Learning powered by partnership

We couldn’t do what we do at Lancashire Adult Learning without our partners. Every year, we work with organisations large and small to bring learning closer to where people live, work and feel at home. Together, we make sure adults from all walks of life can access opportunities that feel welcoming, local and relevant.

You’ll find Lancashire Adult Learning in all kinds of places – from community centres, libraries and faith venues, to workplaces, schools and specialist training sites. Our partners help us remove barriers by offering familiar spaces, trusted networks and insight into the people they support, so learners feel confident to take that first step. At its best, partnership means learning is not “one-size-fits-all”. It’s shaped around local need – whether that’s helping someone back into work, supporting families to learn together, building digital confidence, improving wellbeing or helping employers grow and retain talent.

Learning at the heart of local life

Smaller community organisations play a huge role in our work. Groups like Pendle Women’s Forum help us reach people who might not otherwise see learning as “for them”. By working together, we can offer courses that fit real lives – with the right timing, location, language support and wraparound help – in a place where learners already feel safe and supported.

These partnerships mean our programmes don’t just arrive in a community; they grow from within it. We listen, co-design and adapt, so learning responds to local needs, cultures and ambitions – building confidence, connection and opportunity.

Skills that strengthen workforces

We support employers of all sizes to develop the skills they need – now and for the future. Working alongside businesses and training providers, we create learning that’s practical, relevant and aligned to real roles and progression routes.

Our employer partnerships can include:
• Sector-based Work Academy Programmes to help people train for vacancies and move into work
• Talent acquisition pipelines, linking training directly to recruitment needs
• Support in response to redundancy, helping people retrain and transition into new opportunities
• Upskilling and reskilling staff, improving productivity, confidence and retention

By combining our teaching expertise with partners’ industry insight and facilities, learners can see a clear route from training to employment – and employers benefit from a pipeline of prepared, motivated candidates.

Helping families learn, grow and thrive

We work with schools and community settings to deliver Family Learning that supports parents, carers and children to learn together. These partnerships help build confidence at home, strengthen communication and encourage a positive relationship with learning – often for families who may not have had the best experience of education in the past.

Family Learning can support:
• confidence with reading, maths and everyday learning at home
• routines and skills that help children thrive in school
• parents/carers returning to learning in a friendly, low-pressure way

Tackling digital poverty, unlocking opportunity

Digital access and confidence can be the difference between being able to apply for work, access services, support children’s learning – or feeling locked out. That’s why we partner with local organisations to tackle digital poverty through community-based learning and support.

Together, we help adults:
• build essential digital skills for everyday life and work
• gain confidence using devices, email and online services
• access learning in local, trusted spaces (with support at every step)

Learning that supports confidence, connection and recovery

We work with partners across communities and services to deliver learning that supports health and wellbeing. For many adults, learning is a turning point – helping people rebuild confidence, reduce isolation and develop routines and purpose.

Through wellbeing-focused courses, we create welcoming spaces where people can:
• connect with others and feel part of something positive
• build confidence, resilience and self-belief
• take small steps that lead to bigger life changes

How we work with partners

Partnership starts with listening. We’ll work with you to understand the people you support and the outcomes you want to achieve – then shape learning that fits. Typically, we:
Listen and explore local need and barriers
Co-design the offer (location, timing, support, outcomes)
Deliver engaging learning with clear progression routes
Review impact and improve together
