Use Lego kits to encourage your child to learn skills such as creativity, problem solving and dexterity and spend time together in a supported environment. The course enables learners to build confidence with technical equipment and begin a coding journey to encourage your future engineers!

This course is delivered over 1 session for 2 – 2.5 hours

What will I learn?

This is a practical and interactive course that is meant to be lots of fun whilst learning and developing important skills. It is designed to ignite a curiosity and confidence in children that will lead them to explore their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) skills further. Learning through play has been widely recognised as an effective way of developing skills. As part of the activities – children will also be developing their maths, communication and teamwork skills. The course also allows a safe and organised environment for parents/carers to spend quality time “playing” with their children and taking key lessons away about working together to encourage healthier relationships.

By the end of the course, parents/carers will be able to:
– Support the child in choosing & identifying correct pieces to match the instructions and build the robot
– State a definition for coding
– Define what the acronym STEM is and how this links to Lego Robotics
– Identify further learning opportunities and aspirations

How is the course delivered?

This course is delivered face to face, usually in a local school or suitable venue – please check details before enrolling. The teacher will support and guide the learners through the session so they are able to complete the learning activities.

Learning activities include:
– Listening carefully to safety instructions and teacher guidance

How will my learning be assessed?

During the session you will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with the teacher and feedback will be provided to allow you to further develop your skills. You will also be encouraged to provide course feedback to your teacher and take part in end of course evaluation. You will be asked to assess some key skills at the beginning of the course and again at the end so you are able to clearly see the progress you have made.

All the course work will be completed within the session. The teacher will provide you with links to additional resources to help you to continue learning after the session.
