Course Overview

This course will develop learner’s knowledge and skills required to work with children in an early years setting, by exploring vocational pathways and identifying further educational opportunities aligned to either working in childcare settings or schools. This is a knowledge-based qualification, so learners do not need to be undertaking practical placements to achieve this qualification. It will help learners start on the right path and progress towards employment in their chosen area.

What will I learn?

All units need to be to completed and cover the following topics:

Unit CFC 1
Develop knowledge and understanding of encouraging confidence building for the young child through play.

Unit CFC 2
Explore the importance of listening to and talking with young children and developing activities to support young children’s language development.

Unit CFC 4
Gain knowledge and understanding of the importance of routines for young children.

How is the course delivered?

This course will be delivered over four sessions, via online classes or in a community venue.
The teacher will be on hand throughout the course to offer support, feedback and guidance.
For the online course, learners will require an email address and access to the internet via either a laptop or computer. They will also need to be able to understand how to follow URL links to pages on the internet.
For a community venue course – learner work will be completed in a workbook.

How will my learning be assessed?

During the course, learners will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with the teacher and feedback will be provided. Learners will also be encouraged to provide course feedback to the teacher and take part in end of course evaluation.

Additional Information

Learners will be required to complete sufficient work to achieve the minimum course criteria as identified course specification handbook. The course teacher will support learners to do this, with the majority of work being produced in class to enable ongoing support to be given. Some work outside the classroom might be required.
