Entry Requirements:
To attend the course, learners should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. Learners will also need a basic level of IT skills to be able to access the course and follow online instructions if attending an online session. If training or support is needed, please enquire about our free ICT courses. Learners will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet device, and the internet if studying online. All devices should have a camera, sound and a microphone so they are able to interact with their teacher and peers during the course. If the course is delivered online using Zoom, learners will be sent the join details and links prior to the course. Both of these online platforms can be accessed via an app on a smart phone, tablet or iPad or alternatively via the relevant website: https://www.zoom.us All learners will need to enrol online prior to any course starting through the college’s online enrolment portal: https://enrol.lal.ac.uk/ Direct enrolment links to specific courses will be provided.

Course Overview
This course is for adults who have an interest in working with children but are unsure which pathway to take. During the course, learners will explore the different opportunities and pathways available, alongside recognising the skills and qualities needed. Identifying appropriate next steps onto further learning opportunities and qualifications will enable learners to progress into an exciting career pathway.
What will I learn?
At the end of the course, learners will be able to: Recognise future learning pathways into working with children Identify a starting point for your learning journey List transferable skills and attributes linked to working with children This course contains one accredited unit from Open Awards: Problem Solving Skills for Work (Entry 3 unit)
How is the course delivered?
The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge throughout the course and identify any gaps and additional information required Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research. Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations.
How will my learning be assessed?
Online learners will attend classes via the online platform Zoom on a set day and time. The session will be delivered live online and learners will be supported by the class teacher to complete tasks via Microsoft forms. Learners attending face to face classes will attend their designated setting for the session with delivery and support by their course teacher to work through a workbook. Learners attending face to face sessions will need paper, pens and a file to develop their portfolio of evidence. Learners studying online will be submitting work via Microsoft Forms and learners studying face to face will complete a workbook.
