Course Overview
The aim of this short introductory session is to provide learners with an basic understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition, person-centred approach and knowledge of the importance of relevant communication skills when working with individuals on the Autistic Spectrum.
These may be learners who wish to access this training with a view to progressing to further learning or qualifications within this subject, to complement other qualifications within mental health or health and social care, or to support them in their current job role.
What will I learn?
Through this course learner will learn about:
The concept of Autistic Spectrum Condition
The importance of a person-centred approach when working with individuals with an Autism Spectrum Condition?
The importance of effective communication for individuals with Autism Spectrum Condition?
How is the course delivered?
Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge
Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows them to identify how much they have learnt and where they might need wish to carry out further study or research.
Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on starting points, personal goals and career aspirations. Course Work A learning mat will be supplied at the start of the course which will be used by the learner to record their knowledge through activities and open questions, which will be submitted at the end of the session. An attendance certificate can be provided upon completion, if requested.
How will my learning be assessed?
Learners engaging in learning activities to support the learning outcomes. Learning will be structured towards completing both individual and group activities to increase knowledge and understanding which will be assessed using a range of methods.
