Entry Requirements:
This course can be accessed by all parents and carers with children in Year 1 in primary schools. The course will require learners to be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English at Entry Level 3 and above. Learners will be required to complete a course enrolment form before proceeding with the course which they can either do online before the course if the venue have a link, or on the day of the course with the teacher.

Course Overview

The KS1 Fun with Maths course has been designed to help parent/carers of children in the foundation stage of school. Learners will understand how to support their childs’ Maths learning at home and the approach the school use in the early years to support young children. We will look at the Maths terminology used in school and the different methods taught to the children. Get a head start with supporting children with our brilliant Fun with Maths course.

What will I learn?

You will look at how schools develop early multiplication skills with children at KS1. You will look at terminology used in maths and how you can support your child with developing maths skills.
At the end of the session you will be able to:
1. Understand what is meant by multiplication terminology used in school such as an array

2. Use creative activities to develop children’s multiplication skills

3. State the times tables children learn in KS1

4. Identify further learning opportunities and?aspirations.

How is the course delivered?

This course is delivered online for 2 hours

How will my learning be assessed?

During the session you will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with the teacher and feedback will be provided to allow you to further develop your skills. You will also be encouraged to provide course feedback to your teacher and take part in end of course evaluation. You will be asked to assess some key skills at the beginning of the course and again at the end so you are able to clearly see the progress you have made.
