Course Overview
This course is designed as a springboard for students to develop the knowledge and academic skills needed to progress on to the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Level 3). Gain knowledge and understanding across all areas of the health and care sector, or in one chosen specialism.
What will I learn?
Learners will cover a mixture of sector-specific and general care topics, such as: • Professional behaviours, understanding the role of care professions, health and safety and more • Communication and person-centred care approaches • Social Psychology • Mental Health and Wellbeing
How is the course delivered?
This course is delivered face to face.
Learning will be undertaken within lessons where you will be required to create a portfolio of work. The portfolio which will include a range of assessment methods such as written assignments, observations, practical activities, presentations and work booklets.

Progression on the course is closely monitored through regular one-to-one meetings with tutors who provide academic feedback and support to support learners as they meet their targets. Students also have dedicated ADPT sessions (Academic Development, Progression and Tutorial) to discuss overall progress, set personal goals and address any challenges affecting their studies or wellbeing, ensuring each learner receives 360 degree support throughout their journey.
Alongside completing this course, you will be required to attend lessons for Maths and English to obtain a Grade 4 (Grade C) or Level 2 Functional Skills at a Pass.
