Additional Learning Support

Additional Learning Support at Lancashire Adult Learning

At Lancashire Adult Learning, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Our dedicated Additional Learning Support (ALS) team is here to make sure you feel empowered, supported, and ready to thrive during your time with us. Whether you have a disability, learning difficulty, or simply require some individualised support, we’re with you every step of the way.

What support is available?

Our ALS team provide a range of resources and support to help you succeed academically and personally. Here’s how we can help:

Personalised Learning Support

If you have learning needs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, or any other specific requirement, we offer tailored assistance, which may include:

  • Support from your teacher to help you in class.
  • Access to assistive technology such as coloured overlays, magnifiers, and hearing loops (if required).
  • Referrals for specialist assessments (e.g. for exams or dyslexia).
  • Support from a Learning Support Teacher, either in class or during one-to-one sessions.
  • Assistance from a Communication Support Worker for signing or note taking.

Physical Disability Support

For students with physical disabilities or visual/hearing impairments, our expert team will ensure you have access to everything you need to achieve your goals.

This could include specialist equipment, accessible resources, and adapted facilities. Your confidentiality is always our priority; we only share information with relevant professionals to help meet your needs.

Bringing Your Own Support

If you’re planning to attend with external support, please let us know during enrolment so we can discuss the best arrangement before your course begins. We have a dedicated team of trained and qualified Learning Support Teachers who understand your course content and work seamlessly with your teaching team to help you succeed.

While we recommend using our in-house team to ensure you receive support that’s fully aligned with your learning outcomes, we’re happy to discuss all options and work together to decide what’s best for your individual needs.
